On 31st January 2018, our school learned that it had been graded as a Green school under the National Categorisation System. The report written by our Challenge Adviser from Central South Consortium was ratified by Welsh Government. This is an achievement our whole school community is really proud of. We are also a Curriculum Pioneer School for Expressive Arts and aim to help develop a new curriculum for Wales as outlined in Professor Graham Donaldson’s report “Successful Futures”.
Currently, our school is organised on two separate sites within the village of Kenfig Hill. The Foundation Phase (formerly Infant) Department, based on the Commercial Street site, accommodates approximately 235 children ranging in age from 3 – 7. These pupils are organised into eight classes.
The Key Stage 2 (formerly Junior) Department also accommodates approximately 225 pupils ranging in age from 7 – 11 based on the Pwllygath Street site. These pupils are also organised into eight classes.
The Infant and Junior Schools amalgamated and opened as a Primary School at the beginning of the 2015-16 academic year. One of our many aims is to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our pupils. We look for quality in all of our activities so that our children become confident, well-mannered and well-behaved individuals who are able to work co-operatively and collaboratively as well as developing their own independence. We encourage our children to be respectful and responsible and to develop an awareness of their place within our school community, the community of Kenfig Hill, in Wales and in the wider world.
As a school, we fully recognise the important role parents play in their child’s development as a learner. We look forward to working together with you, forming a respectful and effective partnership which will have a positive impact on your child’s education. Indeed, should you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
